AES 137 | Meet the Judges #7: Jim Kaiser

Meet Jim Kaiserone of our honorable judges for Category 2: Traditional Studio Recording.

Jim Kaiser is an audio engineer and educator, and is on the faculty of the Audio Engineering Technology program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.

Until recently, he was Director of Technology at MasterMix, and responsible for surround production, audio restoration, and technical development. Selected credits include Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, Saturday Night Live, Kansas, Emmylou Harris, and Vintage Trouble.

Kaiser’s career features experience in location recording with artists including Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Gloria Estefan, and Michael Jackson, and technical design of recording and production facilities, including Sony-BMG, East Iris, MasterMix, and Clear Channel Entertainment/Live Nation.

Jim is Chair of the AES Technical Committee on Recording Technology and Practices, Co-Chair of the Convention Policy Committee, and Recording Track Co-Chair for the Los Angeles Convention Planning Committee.  He has served on the AES Board of Governors as Vice President Central Region US/Canada, President (2010-2011), and currently as a Governor.

Kaiser is active on the Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing Deliverables Committee and the Nashville Engineer Relief Fund Board.  He is a frequent contributor and organizer at international, regional, and local Audio Engineering Society events.
