I was born in 1972 in Istanbul, Turkey. I studied at Saint Joseph
French high school. During these years I was interested in electronics
and music. I was playing an electric guitar and building my own guitar
amp, distortion and wah pedals and even a 5 channel stereo mixer.
After the high school, I studied electronics in Technical University
of Istanbul. As a part time job, I started working as an assistant
engineer in a music recording studio. Then I passed to another studio,
to implement the first audio mastering system in Turkey with Sonic
Solutions software.
In 1999, I founded my own company STD where I was
doing recording and mastering and also importing some high quality
pro-audio gear to Turkey. In 2000 I founded the Turkish section of AES
with some friends and later we founded The Turkish Sound Engineers
Association as the legal body in Turkey.
I am married and have 4 cats. I moved with my family from Istanbul, Turkey to Wiesbaden, Germany by
the end of 2017.
Sorgun Akkor is working on acoustic design, mastering and forensic audio in his company STD.
