Michael Caporizzo

Michael is an educator, audio engineer, and guitarist who sustains a diverse and rewarding career in music. He is an Assistant Professor of Sound Recording Technology at Ithaca College’s Whalen School of Music, where he has served on faculty since 2013.
 
Michael began his audio career in live sound reinforcement, working as a system technician, monitor engineer, and front of house engineer. He has provided support for many touring artists across diverse musical styles, and continues to mix regularly at regional music venues. As a recording engineer, he has made records with a wide range of artists, ensembles, and composers. Some recent credits include titles by Dana Wilson, The Kraken Quartet, Malcolm Bilson, Roberto Sierra, Attacker, and Aaron Tindall.
 
Michael also continues to perform regularly and can frequently be heard collaborating with Ithaca College faculty and student ensembles, as well as regional performers and musical theater orchestras. Recent notable performances include collaborations with the Syracuse Symphony, Syracuse Stage, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, the Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra, Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Ithaca Community Orchestra, Cornell University Winds, and Ensemble X. He has been an active AES member since 2007.
