AES 136th Convention
Venue: Estrel Hotel and Convention Center, Berlin, Germany
Dates: April 26–29, 2014

The venue has been set and we'll be heading for the Estrel Hotel and Convention Center in Berlin for the 136th Convention. The papers chairs are still accepting proposals for eBriefs, topics for which can be very wide-ranging, such as studio experience, equipment construction, new loudspeaker concepts, room acoustic measurements, analysis of audio equipment, and project studio startups, to name just a few.

International Conferences

Semantic Audio, 53rd Conference

London, UK, January 26–29, 2014
Conference Chairs Karlheinz Brandenburg and Mark Sandler have announced that registration is now open for the 53rd Conference, on Semantic Audio. An additional tutorial day (26 January, 2014) will be held at Queen Mary University of London on effective research practices (e.g. the use of version control and unit testing in audio research), Intelligent audio production and automatic music mixing, among other selected topics.

Audio Forensics, 54th Conference

London, UK, June 12–14, 2014
The call for contributions closes January 31. Chaired by Mark Huckvale and Jeff Smith, this conference is dedicated to exploring advances in the field of audio forensics by providing a platform for research related to the forensic application of speech/signal processing, acoustical analyses, audio authentication, and the examination of methodologies and best practices.

Call for Board Nominations

The Nominations Committee is soliciting the names of members to be considered for possible inclusion in the 2014 ballot for election of officers to the Board of Governors. To be eligible for nomination, a candidate must be a voting member of the Society and belong to one of the following membership categories: honorary member, fellow, or member, and must be willing and able to attend the meeting of the Board of Governors each year in North America. Nominations must be submitted online.

Call for Awards Nominations

The Awards Committee has issued a call for nominations. If you know of anyone that should be recognised for their achievements in audio engineering, or who has demonstrated outstanding service to the Society, now is the time to submit your nomination. The committee is keen to hear about individuals that may not have come to its attention so far.
