Discussion of a real world project where the pre-production mix facility and the the final special venue presentation have immersive systems that are spatially divergent in terms of shape, volume, and speaker format. The final venue has a immersive sound system built into a standard 40 foot long shipping conatiner and is constructed using "just in time" approaches so that the available time for mixes on site is very short. A pre-production studio with a sets of speakers mounted in a hemispherical array in ascending rings is utilized to create all the audio mixes for the container. The challenge is how to pre-visualize and mix in a room that is so incredibly different and meet the deadline requirements for the opening. A hybrid approach of channel based and wave field synthesis mixing and processing is used to overcome the spatial divergence and take advantage of the studio space as effectively as possible before moving into the container for final mix.
