I have been in and around the audio industry from a very early age, growing up in and around Virgin Records' The Manor studios in the UK in the 1970's. From the age of about 12 I could operate mixing consoles and tape machines and understood the principles of recording, both studio and live. I have worked in the professional audio industry from the age of 14 starting part time at weekends and school holidays. This constant exposure to the professional industry at a high level from an early age, coupled with a constant desire to know more about the engineering behind the audio industry, has driven a long and varied career in audio. I owe most of my knowledge to some truly fantastic professionals in this industry that I have worked with over the years, coupled with a huge amount of private study of the scientific principles our industry is based upon.
The following are just some of the roles I have filled in the 32 years I have been working in audio.
Studio deign and construction engineer. 30+ Years.
Sound systems (all types) designer and installer.30+ Years
Studio infrastructure designer and installer. 30+ Years
Live sound engineer.20+ years
Mastering Engineer. 5 years
Recording Engineer. 10+ years
Professional Carpenter. 25+ years
Loudspeaker systems design and development engineer. 25+ Years
Venue tuning, DSP system programming and environmental noise control consultant for entertainment venues 16+ years
High School, passed all exams.
Took a college degree in electrical and electronic engineering.
Left the degree early when offered a job of maintenance engineer at a London studio which was a far better offer than the degree level qualification promised.
