Harman International - Senior Engineer, Acoustic Systems

Harman’s Automotive Audio SBU is the global leader in the design and manufacture of OEM Branded Audio systems. The group maintains headquarters in Novi, Michigan with Product Development Centers in Germany, the USA and China. Regional Engineering Centers are maintained in close geographical proximity to our primary customers on each continent. The Audio SBU develops branded audio system solutions; amplifiers and speakers, noise management product such as ANC EOC/RNC and ESS, and components for use in unbranded or alternatively branded systems. Core competencies include transducer and amplifier design and manufacturing, DSP audio algorithms, system integration, system voicing techniques and subjective/objective benchmarking. Program execution and product quality are another strong focus for the Audio SBU.
•Design and tune audio systems for the automotive environment.
•Investigate new audio related technologies and best practices.
•Research and create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems for the automotive environment.
•Develop and document worldwide acoustic systems tools and best practices.
•Acoustic systems leader for OEM customers.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
•4 years of experience in an audio related field.
•5+ years experience preferred with specific experience in digital signal processing, amplifier engineering, transducer engineering, acoustical engineering, psycho-acoustics, and/or recording arts.
• Knowledge of Matlab, C, C++, algorithm development, and programming
• Proficient in digital signal processing, circuit diagrams, and physical/psycho-acoustics
•Passion for audio engineering and music
•High level of energy

•Strong problem solving skills
•Knowledge of recording arts
•Excellent presentation skills
•Willingness to travel up to 30-40% of the time
•Willingness to work in an office in Farmington Hills, MI
•Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test
•Willingness for overtime and weekend work, as needed
