Moderated by: Nate Stoll, MTSU AES section vice-chair

Speaker(s): John Merchant, Professor and Chair, MTSU Dept. of Recording Industry

Are you looking to level up your mixing skills? What better way than to come see a Grammy-nominated producer and engineer mix in real-time and get a view into his professional mixing process.

Please join the MTSU Student AES Chapter for a hybrid event both in-person in Bragg 180 (Mix Lab) and over Zoom to watch Professor John Merchant demonstrate his mixing process live. Not only was John nominated for a Grammy for his production work with Mika in 2008, but he brings a wealth of industry knowledge, having worked with artists like Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Lenny Kravitz and Raphael Saadiq.

In this engaging masterclass, you'll learn about Professor Merchant’s top-down mixing approach as well as his specific processing techniques. There will be plenty of time for audience questions, so come with your unanswered mixing questions you’ve always been wanting to ask!

When: Wednesday, March 16th from 6-8 p.m.

Where: Mix Lab (Bragg 180) and Zoom

Please note that recording is not allowed at this event, so the only way to benefit from this great opportunity is to attend in-person or via Zoom!
