Summary

On September 29th 2011, the auditorium at Estudio Urbano, Buenos Aires, saw the start of the "Second Series of Open Conferences in Estudio Urbano; Audio & Acoustics", organized by AES Argentina.

The Series consist of a number of ten Seminars from the different keynote speakers, who specialize in diverse areas of audio and acoustics, taking place every Thursday from September 29th until December 1st.

On Thursday, September 29th we had Martín Díaz Vélez from AES Argentina speak about the appropriate types and capacities of a hard drive, its speeds and transfer rates for the specific use in audio, and the security systems for data storage. All information backed up by the extensive experience that Martin has from the many years on the subject.

On Thursday, October 6th Lucas Fushimi talked about the soundtrack in the visual languages design going through various aspects such as the different ways of listening, the concept of time and soundscape in film, acousmatics and acoustic messages, 'Speech Chain', the qualities of sound as a sensitive message, the importance of narrative, and image as a starting point for sound design. On this occasion, a concrete approach to sound language was given, guided by Lucas' vast knowledge and professional teaching in the field.
