Summary

We are very happy to tell that Latin-American student sections were present at the Latin American Conference (LAC) celebrated this 2022 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The LAC was the environment that allowed us to lead our efforts in a unique objective as students, and thus, generated new connections and friendships between members around our region. September 23rd was the day that all the student sections involved exposed their historical development/background, and also, their actual thoughts about the national and Latin American audio scene in form of a long general presentation. We we're surprised by the quantity and quality of the projects held by all the sections, result of years of work. In that line, our section chair (Diego Flores) and vicechair (Nicolás Fernández) talked about Aural and its section beginnings in 2018, the projects that were held that year, its organization, and how it grew in the recent years to become what it is in the present. With a focus on I+D and international contact, our present is very clear, what leads us to point to new directions with the other sections worldwide. The representatives from the other sections were Lucas Mechehem, Paula Miranda (ECOS) Joaquín Laje Tejo, Lina Elías (IMAS) Federico Matta Trejo, Julián Benítez (EMC) Nahuel Orellana and Ariadna Trotta (TAMABA).
Later in the presentation, after an intervention of our VP Jorge Azama and Ian Corbett, representatives from the Latin-American student sections (more specifically from UNITEPC, UNIANDES, TEC, MAP, AUDIOPLACE, USFQ) both in person and virtually, gave us an historical review of the beginning and actuality of the AES student activity. The participation of Brayan Rodriguez, Noelia Rego, Luis Ortiz, Itzel Hernandez, Andrés Martinez, Gabriela de León, Adrián Longart and Marko Kihpo was amazing, it was a general review of their wide range of activities in the AES, from making a student audio podcast to forming new sections around Latin America.
The result of this collective work: a solid step into the emerging audio scene, new connections between students and professionals, and a vast range of opportunities to form new collaborative projects! But most important: we are now conscious of the deepness of what is happening at a regional level, and it is historical! Final thanks to all the people that attended that day and special thanks to our Faculty Advisor, Leandro Rodriguez, that leaded all the efforts of the students to this result!
