Summary

Tyler "Seven" Miller (President of AES at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences) had his inaugural meeting as the new President of the CRAS AES chapter on Monday, September 26th. He opened the meeting by asking all in attendance to answer the question, "What song have you had on repeat?" Some of the answers included Same Shows by Troubled Minds, Tarot Cards by Saturdays at Your Place, So Sad So Sad by Varsity, On a High by Duncan Sheik, Leaf's new single, Dumpster Baby by Bladee, Trip by Ethereal, Pony by Genuine, The Boat I Row by Tame Impala, Shady Intentions by NGHTMRE and Zeds Dead, Last Echo by the Timber Rattlers, Swan Song by Down, 93 til Infinity by Souls of Mischief, Demons by Jacob Lee, Just in Time by Dean Martin, DNA by Kendrick Lamar, Time by West Side Boogie, and Whiskey in the Jar by the Dubliners.
Tyler then introduced the CRAS AES office holders: Tyler "Seven" Miller - President; Matt Lindsey- Vice President; William Walton - Secretary; James Shaw - Vice Secretary; Spencer Halpin and Les Danglar - Techs.
Upcoming events currently scheduled for our chapter were announced, including a HITMKR event with CRAS grad/ Director of Studio Operations for Aftermath Paul Montes one September 29th, a CRAS Grad Panel on September 30th, and CRAS's Open House on October 1st.
Seven then asked those in attendance for any suggestions they may have on how to make the Monday night meetings more engaging to ensure that interest will continue to grow as well as the number of attendees. Many suggestions were made, including the implementation of an opportunity for students to submit their mixes for feedback, adding an "On This Day in Music" section, going into more detail on the mix tip of the week, as well as the inclusion of some more interactive games in addition to the Kahoot that occurs every meeting. It was very refreshing to see the level of enthusiasm that those in attendance had towards the development and growth of the chapter.
Seven then opened the floor to anyone who was Cycle 5 or above in the program to share any advice for the lower cycles, particularly the large number of first-cyclers who were in attendance. Some of the wisdom that was shared included being at the school as much as possible to utilize everything that is offered, finding people in higher cycles to sit in on sessions, taking advantage of every review class that is offered, and paying close attention to the material covered in the first few cycles because everything that is presented throughout the rest of the program is building upon that core foundation.
Afterwards, the meeting was adjourned for time to network with those in attendance.
