Mastering engineer Graemme Brown visited the University of Lethbridge to hold two masterclasses and provide one-on-one mastering sessions with current Digital Audio Arts students. Graemme's masterclasses discussed the business and communications aspects of being a mastering engineer, as well as mastering techniques and the role of the mastering engineer in a production.
Graemme's masterclasses were attended by 27 current students on Friday, March 15. Over the weekend, Graemme demonstrated mastering techniques in 10 individual sessions with students, using the student's own mixes. Most of those 10 students, plus 3 others, also attended other individual sessions as a "fly on the wall" in order to see mastering techniques for other genres.
