Summary

The AES Atlanta Section held their 12th Annual Student Workshop at Turner Studios. Jim Anderson instructed a class on critical listening. Bob Gillespie instructed the recording class in which students were shown various microphones and techniques. Afterwards they would get to observe several live musicians performing while being recorded. Michael Cardillo, would then use those recordings for a mixing class, in which he would mix the session in front of the students. Paul Lipscomb did a live demonstration of sound design for several game audio trailers. The students then were given the opportunity to design the same trailers with the same assets. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion on careers in audio. The workshop was sponsored by Turner Studios, Comprehensive Technical Group, Found + Lost, Atlanta Pro Audio, Tech Rep Marketing, and Steinberg.
