Summary

At the beginning of the event, Valeria Palomino —current Vice President of the Audio Engineering Society for Latin America-- shared with the attendees information about the society, the different activities that are taking place in the region and how the AES has been vital in her work flow in the last years. She proceeded with the introduction of the conference by explaining the different stereo recording techniques. Valeria emphasized in the stereo recording techniques that are applied to record acoustic ensembles.

Furthermore, Palomino explained the different microphones to consider in the stereo microphone configurations and specified which were the techniques and microphones of her preference according to the captured instrument. Also, she shared the different complications that are faced when she encounters situations with limited budget, resources and other elements, but noted how to overcome these complications throughout the production process.

Finally, Valeria opened a recording session with several stereo techniques on a piano recorded in one of the live rooms of the Tecnológico de Monterrey during her academic activities. Attendees heard different stereo miking techniques through the opened session and blended different configurations to show characteristics of depth, definition, and clarity, among others.

The attendees enjoyed the event and were relieved to learn how other Latin American countries solve the limitations and problems they regularly face, noting that similar complications are present in our region. The event was developed with the support of the University of San Buenaventura through its Sound Engineering program.
