Summary

We had an amazing turnout for tonight's AES event Beats from Scratch. CRAS instructor Neight Hardman gave a demonstration on how to create your own beats using Reason software and a few random household items.

This was great opportunity for students to learn how to create their very own unique beats that can be used for a number of different things, whether it be your own songs to use in a post production type environments. Knowing how to create your own beats and samples can be very helpful for us as students because there is no hassle with trying to get sample clearances from other artists.

Neight took volunteers from the audience and had them record several different sounds using things like pots, change in a cardboard tube, a kazoo, clapping and even a can of tuna! Neight then showed how to edit the sounds recorded and use Reason software to change the pitch and dynamics of the sounds and turn them into very unique creative beats.

We had a very positive response tonight from the students who attended, and had several requests to have another clinic of this type in the future.
