Summary

In the summer of 2014 Dr. Hawley, in collaboration with several AET faculty, converted a bedroom in his new house into a small project recording studio, mixing theoretical concepts from the PHY2010 course with practical construction realities on a tight budget. In the process, he wrote a guide for those interested in doing the same, with specific Nashville-related information. This talk will present a distillation of that guide, in terms of design, construction, evaluation and usage, with a 'practical' emphasis of the acceptable limitations imposed by budget, room size, real estate market, and more. Topics will include electricity, soundproofing, acoustics, and aesthetics.
