About

KAZUHO ONO has been an AES member since 1999. He has been actively engaged in supporting activities of the AES. In AES Japan Section, he consecutively occupied the position of Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair. He also contributed to the organization of regional conferences/conventions of the AES held in Japan, including Convention Vice Chair, Convention/Conference Paper Chair. He also served as Paper Co-Chair of the 40th International AES Conference on Spatial Audio. He is now working for the TC and SC of the AES. In 2016, he received fellowship award from the AES.

Kazuho studied instrumentation physics at the University of Tokyo, where he received B.E. and M. E. degrees in 1989 and 1991, respectively. In 1991 he joined NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and worked in Science and Technology Research Laboratories (STRL). As a researcher at NHK STRL, he contributed to the design and development of the 100 kHz super-wide frequency range microphone. He has also expanded this design method of the super wide range microphone and applied it for a cardioid microphone by using a double capsule.
He has also been engaged in the development of 22.2 multichannel sound system for 8K Super Hi-Vision, and contributed to the 8K test broadcasting which started in 2016.
Currently he is working at NHK Foudation.
He published two journal papers in the JAES, authored/co-authored many journal/convention papers in the AES.

AES Awards

In 2016, Kazuho Ono was presented with the AES Fellowship Award in recognition of his conspicuous contributions to the development of high-quality professional-use microphones.
