Daniel Beer was born in Stralsund, Germany in 1976.

He graduated in Media Technology at the Technische Universität Ilmenau in 2003. The topic of his diploma thesis was “Optimization of the Sound Reproduction of Planar Loudspeakers.”

He conducted his PhD from 2004 to 2009 at the Acoustics Department of Fraunhofer IDMT. During this time he investigated the sound radiation of planar loudspeakers installed on sound-reflecting boundaries such as walls or other bounding surfaces.
Based on the findings during his PhD, he continued his research on planar speakers and developed prototypes for the market.

In 2012 he was appointed head of the Electroacoustics group at Fraunhofer IDMT. The main activities of his group involve research in transducer and planar speaker technologies as well as services in the field of room acoustics and testing of multimedia products.

He is co-author of different scientific papers and involved in major projects at the Fraunhofer IDMT.
