143rd AES CONVENTION Technical Tour TT01: Rubin Museum

AES New York 2017
Technical Tour TT01

Wednesday, October 18, 10:00 am — 12:30 pm (Off-Site 1)

TT01 - Rubin Museum

The Rubin Museum of Art is dedicated to the preservation and display of the culture of the Himalayas. Currently on exhibit throughout the building is "The World is Sound", which juxtaposes new site-specific sound installations with historical objects of Tibetan Buddhist art. The centerpiece of the exhibit is "Le Corps Sonore" (Sound Body), an immersive piece composed for the museum’s spiral staircase. Ambient drone sounds inspired by Buddhist philosophy are tuned to the building, and will ascend and descend as visitors move about the staircase. Our tour begins before the museum opens to the public, and will be led by some of the technicians and sound artists responsible for the exhibit.

This tour is made possible in part through the generosity of Harman, Inc.

Space limited to 50 people
Participants need to be ticketed and travel with the tour group to attend a technical tour.
