AES 138th Convention

The detailed calendar of events for the 138th Convention is now live on the convention website. You can find full details of the papers sessions and special events, including tutorials and workshops on 3D audio, automotive audio, and many other important topics. Loudness guru, Florian Camerer presents the keynote address, and Genelec's chairman, Ilpo Martikainen, gives the Heyser lecture, discussing whether and how monitoring loudspeakers can be truthful quality control tools.

The Project Studio Expo is presented in association with Resolution Magazine. "It's a unique opportunity for budding and established audio engineers attending the AES Convention in Warszawa to bring themselves up to date with work methods that will add significant benefits to their productions," says PSE programme organiser Zenon Schoepe, executive editor of Resolution magazine.

Dereverberation and Reverberation of Audio, Music, and Speech

AES 60th Conference

Leuven, Belgium, February 3–5, 2016

This conference aims to bring together and provide a forum for researchers working on the modeling, control, removal, and synthesis of acoustic reverberation. The interdisciplinary nature of the topic will cover disciplines such as room acoustics, psychoacoustics, and signal processing, hence the conference is targeted at researchers working in any of these disciplines. The call for contributions closes July 15th.

AES Section Spotlight: New York Hosts Microphone Event

Recording

On April 28th at 6 pm the New York sections of AES and SMPTE jointly present "A Discussion about the Microphone", chaired by David Bialik. It's held at ABC Television Network , 47 W 66 St., New York, NY, with representatives from a number of microphone manufacturers. It aims to discuss the considerations that go into mic design, materials, how polar charts are read/misread, types of mics, placement, and how to use the mic. If you are in the area you could consider attending, but there is limited seating so you need to register first.
