R&D manager - Acoustic Systems

Our client, an established international manufacturer of audio products and systems, is seeking an experienced electro-acoustic engineer to lead all acoustic system technology research and development. You will have a deep understanding and knowledge of transducer and system design gained from your 10 years plus experience of designing loudspeaker systems in the professional audio systems industry.

In this role you will:

- Lead the existing team of design engineers, creating vision for technology requirements and development.
- Work with product managers to define product roadmaps, requirements and specifications.
- Investigate competitive products and research new technologies.
- Manage project schedules and product costs.
- Oversee test and design verification for functional and reliability testing, using time domain measurement systems, Klippel analysis, and thermal monitoring.

The successful applicant will be able to:

- Demonstrate functional knowledge of modelling and simulation software for waveguides, passive networks, vented boxes, structural components, and other acoustical components.
- Have knowledge of using Solidworks, MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation software and be capable of analysing results, incorporating them into new designs and design improvements.
- Be familiar working with UL, CE, EN54, and other regulatory requirements, as well as with manufacturing during sample builds and improving quality and costs.
- Have experience of DSP algorithms and programming and understand how to apply physics and mathematics to create simulations of array elements.

You will be responsible for taking product concepts and making them a reality, and therefore will need experience of industrial design, prototyping and manufacturing, along with solid and wide-ranging electronics skills (digital and analogue, comms, micro-controllers, signal processing). With existing experience in the audio industry you will have a good understanding of acoustic systems and audio processing, and be a capable team leader and decision maker. Senior Acoustic System Engineer

Your role will be to research, specify and develop new products, from within the acoustics team of this large R&D department.
