TRAVEL and GENERAL INFORMATION

AIR TRAVEL
In cooperation with American Airlines, the AES has arranged exclusive Meeting Saver Fares to the 113th Convention. To take advantage of these special fares, call 1 800 433 1790 and ask for Star File #A2092 AQ. Special discounts are available for travel between September 30 and October 10 for travel within the U.S.

The Los Angeles Convention Center is conveniently located near the downtown hotel community, financial district and the civic center. It’s centrally located at the hub of the transportation system, including the major freeways, LA DASH Transit System and the Metro Line/Light Rail System.

PARKING
The Los Angeles Convention Center has ample space available for parking. The cost is $10 per day.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The Los Angeles Convention Center can be reached by bus. Basic transportation fare is $1.35 each way, with additional zones costing .50 each, and transfers .25 each. Also available is the DASH bus (.25 each way) which provides transportation between hotels and the downtown area. For further information, contact the Metropolitan Transportation Authority at 213-626-4455 or the Metro Store, located at Arco Plaza, Level C, at Figueroa, between Sixth and Fifth.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE
The AES will provide, on a continuous basis, shuttle buses to and from the Los Angeles Convention Center. Buses will be located at the hotels and outside the shuttle bus entrance of the Los Angeles Convention Center. A shuttle bus schedule will be posted in the lobbies of the Los Angeles Convention Center and the official AES 113th Convention hotels (with the exception of the Figueroa Hotel due to its close proximity to the Convention Center).

BADGE PICK-UP AUTHORS/ WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS
Authors and workshop participants can pick up their badges at the Courtesy Desk, located in the Lobby of the South Hall.

PRESENTERS’/SPEAKERS’ READY ROOM
Authors and workshop participants should be in the Presenters’/Speakers’ Ready Room, Level 2, Room 409A, 30 minutes before their technical session or workshop begins to meet with their chair and facilities personnel to discuss last-minute details.

AES STUDENT LOUNGE
For the convenience of AES student members, an assembly area for student members to meet is located in Room 401. This Lounge will also display the scholarly works submitted in the Student Poster Session which can be viewed throughout the four-day convention. A communications board to collect e-mail/Web site addresses from all participating student members and institutions is provided. The Lounge’s hours are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday; and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Tuesday.

PRESS ROOM
Press who have registered in advance can pick up their badges at the Press Room, located in Room 304B. Press who register on site should go to the Press Room for verification of credentials and then proceed to the Courtesy Desk, located in the Lobby of the South Hall, to receive their badges.

INFORMATION CENTER
The Information Desk is located in the Lobby of the South Hall. Literature, including sight-seeing information and maps will be available to attendees wishing to explore Los Angeles. A Convention Center specialist will be available to assist you.

BUSINESS CENTER
The Convention Business Center, located near the Concourse Hall, is equipped to accommodate business needs, such as typing, photocopying, UPS, and Federal Express services. The center is open during convention hours.
