Click here for more convention details: http://www.aes.org/events/139/ Upcoming Conferences – Calls for ContributionsSound Reinforcement Engineering and TechnologyMontreal, Canada, July 15–17, 2015 For the first time in over 25 years, the Audio Engineering Society will host an international conference dedicated to sound reinforcement, to be held in Montreal, July 15–17, 2015. It will bring together master practitioners, developers, users, and scientists to share their knowledge, know-how, and working methods in the art and science of sound reinforcement, control, and distribution. The call for contributions has been extended to March 25th. The interdisciplinary nature of the topic will cover disciplines such as room acoustics, psychoacoustics, and signal processing, hence the conference is targeted at researchers working in any of these disciplines. Click here for details: http://my.aes.org/ Latest Standards ActivityThe recently released "Spatial acoustic data file format", AES69-2015, provides an important framework for the growing binaural and 3D personal audio industries. Binaural listening is growing fast, because of growing sales in smartphones, tablets and other individual entertainment systems. The lack of a standard for the exchange of head-related transfer functions (HRTF) has meant that each company has kept its binaural capture and rendering algorithms private. With a standardized file format for HRTF data, each company could contribute its best algorithms, providing good personalized capture and/or rendering, allowing the consumer to select the best available quality of experience.
