Call for Associate Technical Editors

AES Journal

The AES Journal is looking for audio researchers or audio professionals with strong credentials and expertise in selected areas of audio engineering to assist the editorial process on a pro bono basis. Candidates should be willing to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience in the science publishing process (e.g. reviewing papers) and proficiency in English will be an advantage. Benefits of acting as an ATE include up-to-date awareness of the latest research, improved professional networking and connections, enhanced professional status and CV.

To apply for becoming a member of the Editorial Board of JAES, please send an academic CV (including: academic degrees, areas of study and theoretical specializations, email address, professional postal address, relevant publications) and a brief letter of intent to Bozena Kostek, the JAES EIC, no later than December 31st, 2012. The letter of intent should specify which area of expertise the candidate for the ATE is applying for.

Technical Program Video Recording (TPVR) Update

TPVR

At the 132nd AES convention in Budapest, the Technical Program Video Recording (TPVR) project was extended to include paper presentations. We are now able to make some of these recordings available to E-Library subscribers. Quite a few copyright issues had to be considered, but we hope that these issues will be recognised by authors and that we will be able to offer a much wider coverage in the future. We are studying the possibility of extending this project to cover the presentations made at Conventions in the USA. If you or your company/school are an E-Library subscriber then you can locate these video recordings using the Advanced Search on our E-Library search page. At the bottom you can choose to only include papers that "have a video recording of the presentation." Due to the detailed nature of the PowerPoint slides these are designed to be viewed on a computer and not a mobile device.

133rd Convention Wrap-Up

AES 133rd Convention

The 133rd AES Convention at the Moscone Center was distinguished by a remarkably diverse program. In the face of an epic storm that gripped the nation and disrupted countless travel plans, thousands of conventioneers experienced an exhibition hall filled with new and exciting products and a four-day program of scientific presentations and training events designed to hone their skills in an industry changing at the speed of sound.

From the revelatory anecdotes of multi-Platinum keynote speaker Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Mathews Band, Rolling Stones, The Killers), to the inspirational personal histories and career highpoints of legendary Platinum engineer/producers Jack Douglas (John Lennon), Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston) and Young Guru (Jay-Z, Kanye, Beyonce); to an original live audio production, “Poe – A Life And Stories In Sound,” featuring Firesign Theater/Disney film voiceover star Phil Proctor; a packed screening of the “Wrecking Crew” documentary; AND, the debut of the highly acclaimed Project Studio Expo (see separate release), the 133rd AES Convention was an unqualified success.

52nd Conference Call for Contributions

AES 52nd Conference

AES 52nd Conference – Sound Field Control
Location: Guildford, UK
Dates: September 2–4, 2013

Sound field control enables the active management of audio delivered in an acoustical environment, facilitating control of the sound field for specific applications, occupancy, or listeners' requirements. This raises questions about how sound fields can be controlled without detriment to sound quality. This conference aims to bring together engineers and scientists from around the world to share their research in the field, and to discuss the numerous interactions between acoustics, signal processing, psychoacoustics and auditory cognition.

The call for contributions is now available on the conference website at: http://www.aes.org/conferences/52/

Deadline for paper proposals: 2013 January 31
Deadline for proposals for tutorials and workshops: 2013 March 1
Deadline for final manuscripts: 2013 May 13
