New AES Website Is Live
www.aes.org After months of dedicated effort, the new AES Website has been launched. It has a completely new user interface that features drop-down menus so you can quickly jump to the most important areas of the site. We are now using more social networking tools such as our member profiles as well as groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. We have completely revamped the interface for the AES E-Library so that anyone can utilize its search engine, even if you're not a subscriber yet. Once you've found the paper you want just purchase it with your member discount or download it for free if you're an E-Library subscriber. The changes on the home page are the most dramatic since we now feature the latest news, job postings and links from our sustaining members, as well as direct access to the latest publications, student news, and community-produced tutorials and podcasts. This makes it quite easy to see just how active our Society is and how much free content is available to AES Members. Special thanks go to our Webmaster, Steve Johnson, and to the volunteers that helped him make this happen: team leader Nick Zacharov, graphic designer Josh Tidsbury, and copywriters Peter Cook and Michael Fleming.
AES New York 2009 Housing Is Open
You can now book your hotel for the 127th Convention in New York. If you want a specific hotel we'd suggest booking early before any hotels sell out. We will be posting additional convention information next month.
37th Conference: Class D Audio Amplification
Registration is now open for the 37th AES Conference on Class D Audio Amplification in Hillerød, Denmark. The conference committee has compiled a very comprehensive program including 20 high quality paper presentations and a workshop. This includes a Keynote Address from Lars Risbo of Texas Instruments and an invited presentation by John Oh of Pulsus. This will ensure a world class scientific level of information at the conference, where all leading scientists and practitioners in Class D Audio Amplification will meet, exchange knowledge and expand their professional network. At AES 37th you will also find demo rooms, delicious meals, a conference centre and hotel for all participants in one venue, as well as cultural and social events, which together will ensure a successful AES International Conference. Information on travel arrangements, program updates, registration and contact information can be found on our website. The Conference dates are August 28-30 this year so make sure to register before July 6th so that you will receive an advance registration discount of DKK 500 (approx. $100).
AES Tokyo Convention 2009
The AES Japan section will hold AES Tokyo Convention 2009 (AES 14th Regional Convention, Tokyo) from July 23-25, 2009, at the Science Museum in Tokyo, Japan. The theme of this convention is "Feature the Future with Sound." Today the audio technology that has developed around music and the film industry is spreading to the entertainment industry, various mobile devices, digital broadcasting, Internet delivery and the game industry. We expect to discuss what audio technology could do for people in the future. The convention will include an exhibition, product seminars, student programs, papers sessions, and workshops.
