Performance Limitations of Digital Filter Architectures

Document Thumbnail

Digital filter topologies differ widely in their noise and distortion performance. This paper will compare several topologies for roundoff noise gain and noise floor modulation effects. The practical advantages and disadvantages of these topologies for professional audio signal processing will be compared. Measurements of the filters in the digital domain will be used to demonstrate the differences.
