The purpose of this paper is to develop a methodology allowing a subjective comparison of different stereophonic systems, in close relation to the acoustical environment. This comparison is based upon three criteria highly relevant in the field of space information: Localisation, Apparent distance and Clarity. Three comparative experiments of six different stereophonic coincident and closely-spaced microphones are described. Experimental results are discussed on the basis of their practical aspects.
