Institute-wide implementation of Holistic Assessment in Collaborative Project Based Learning

Document Thumbnail

At SAE Australia, the implementation of holistic assessment within collaborative project-based learning is mature, and has been evolved through an action research model, leading to incremental enhancements since 2011. As an outcome of a recent major program preview, SAE Australia deployed holistic assessment across all of its programs and six campuses and undertook a rapid training and delivery schedule involving around 60% of the Institute staff and more than half of its students. This presentation provides an overview of the rationale for these changes, specific implementation practices and data showing how holistic assessment coupled with reflective practice, transferable skills development and a deliberate practice model has led to improved student performance metrics, satisfaction, and quality of outcomes.
