The Influence of the Sound Source on Perceived Differences between Binaurally Rendered Sound Spaces

Document Thumbnail

With the emergence of immersive contents using binaural playback, the perception of sound space in the context of immersive experiences must be investigated. In this study we explored the perception of 3D sound spaces through dynamic binaural playback. An experiment has been undertaken to compare multidimensional perceptual spaces related to the perception of sound space under different source conditions. The experiment showed that the sound source can have a strong in?uence on sound space perception and that the use of multiple sound sources enable to uncover different perceptual dimensions related to sound space.
