Abstract: This paper presents a software real-time implementation for the NU-Tech platform of a bass enhancement algorithm based on the FAPI subspace tracker and the ESPRIT algorithm for fundamentals estimation to realize bass improvement of small loudspeakers exploiting the well known psychoacoustic phenomenon of the missing fundamental. Comparative informal listening tests have been performed to validate the virtual bass improvement and their results show that the proposed method is well appreciated.
