Time-varying spectral analysis is a useful tool for working with sound. Unfortunately, a very large amount of data is involved. A menu-driven, graphics-based editor for time-varying spectra ahs been implemented at CCRMA, Stanford University. This paper outlines the features which have been developed for examining and modifying spectra, and offers suggestions for the next generation of editors of this type.
