Summary

October's AES Mexico conference: "Bear" and "Bon" tell us with a deep knowledge all the details for the correct execution of a musical production, fighting their place among directors, technicians, noises, scenes and assorted areas in which the musical track has to be placed; to accomplish this, they use professional samples they've gather throughout their careers. "Asi Es La Suerte" (Such is luck), "La Leyenda de la Llorona" (The Legend of La LLorona), "Las Paredes Hablan" (The walls talk) and "Don Gato y su Pandilla" (Top Cat), a feature film with an unusual success for an animated Mexican made film.
From the instruments in the musical backline in each movie, the mix, microphone techniques and its competition with direct sound, as well as their experiences with film directors like Carlos Cuaron, Juan Carlos De Llaca, Alberto Mar, Arturo Ripstein.

This competition has made of audio one of the most forgotten technical elements in the film industry in comparison with the advances in photography or lighting.
About the 5.1 mix, they explain the criteria involved in determining what goes to the different channels: Front, Back and Central, taking in account, that if there are technical differences dictated by the industry in Hollywood, each engineer brings his own style hand in hand with the director.
From the transmitted experience and demonstrations made, this was a valuable afternoon for all attendants interested in audio for cinema.
We are grateful to Jose Enrique Fernandez, head of ARTeria for lending us their premises, and we sadly regret this was the last event we could host there, as they will be closing down shortly. Thanks for all the support given all this time (FM).
