Meeting Topic: Alternate Current and High Tension in Audio
Speaker Name: Orlando Beltrán and Andrés Salgado
Other business or activities at the meeting: As part of our "Primer Audioencuentro Estudiantil de Verano 2011", our next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 14th for a second conference entitled "Gain Structure Design for Digital Audio Recording".
The conference was given in two parts. In the first part, Orlando Beltrán talked about the background of electricity and of important scientists and other people who contributed to its development. He talked about the discoveries of Galvan, Coulomb, Volta, Edison, Tesla, Ohm and Ampere amongst others. He also spoke about the various types of electrical generators, and the law of attraction of electrical charges.
In the second part, Andres Salgado cleared the importance of making electrical installations correctly in order to avoid accidents as well as minimizing electrical noise. He talked about the relation between voltage, current and resistance, and explained what those terms mean. It was an interesting and fun with lots of practical examples where the life or death importance of combining electrical phases when working with audio or audio and video was centerpiece.
