Summary

The CRAS AES meeting on April 8, 2024 was held on Zoom and started with some casual conversation between those from HITMKR and students. Vu (from HITMKR) started off by introducing himself and explaining what HITMKR does. HITMKR is a platform that connects artists together while helping them build their brand. Currently, they are focused on independent artists and helping them sell their music. HITMKR is unique because they allow the artists to keep 100% of their earning. They are working on turning data into insights to help artists understand the data and what they can do with it. CRAS alum, Paul, took the time to introduce himself. He has worked for various studios and with artists such as Kendrick Lamar. Currently, he is a studio manager for Afteramath Entertainment (Dr. Dre's company). Dacota is also another recording/mix engineer that introduced himself. He has mixed for artists such as Donald Glover (Childish Gambino).

The meeting continued with Vu showing students the Mix God website. The website allows producers and engineers to market their services. It helps artists find engineers by allowing engineers to make a page with their links attached to it. Mix God also assists artists with selling their music and merch. Artists are also able to see and manage their music by seeing what streaming platforms they are on. Both Paul and Dacota had good insights on the music industry. Paul referred to HITMKR as a business billboard for artists, producers and engineers.

Students then had the opportunity to ask Paul and Dacota questions about the music industry. Both talked about their career experiences and how they got to the position they are in now. Paul talked about going into post production at the beginning of his career and how he pivoted into music production. Dacota also talked about how he started his internship in Atlanta and the importance of proving how one can be an asset. The meeting ended with Hannah wrapping up the meeting.
