Summary

This meeting started off with two introduction questions. Attendees went around the room and answered "do you play any instruments" and "what kind of music do you create"? Then president, Koen Schultz, introduced current AES office holders. The meeting continued with Koen explaining what AES does and the benefits of having a membership. Student pricing was brought up as well. Upcoming events at CRAS include Sound Radix: Unphaze the Haze on April 14, 2024 and HITMKR x CRAS on April 8, 2024.

The meeting continued with introducing the subgroups CRAS has to offer. Current subgroups at CRAS include music creation/songwriting, jammers, sound design and CRAS Connected (radio). Koen proceeded by explaining how one can start a subgroup. Other organizations at CRAS include CRAS Mentors and Women of Audio. CRAS Mentors is a group where upper cycle students get the opportunity to assist other students with academics. Women of Audio is a group dedicated to helping women advance in the audio industry. The CRAS AES Instagram page was introduced to attendees (follow @CRAS.AES!!!).

Since this meeting landed on week 3 of the cycle, attendees had the opportunity to vote on a winner for the sound design contest. Instead of listening to all of them before voting, this contest was held through a bracket (like March Madness). Attendees had the opportunity to vote on which sounds advance to the next round. After a lot of voting rounds, the winner of this contest was CRAS student, Max Stoffel.

Once the sound design contest was complete, the president and VP introduced the plugin of the week. For this meeting the plugin was called Wider by Polyverse. It is a one knob plugin that helps widen the stereo image of a mono audio file. Then it was brought up to attendees that there is an open AES board position. The meeting ended with everyone saying goodbye to AES president, Koen Schultz as this was his last meeting. Current vice president, Kevin Reyna, will be taking over as president at the next meeting.
