Summary

Dan kicks off the meeting by passing things to Rob Barkan. He tells us how he has done some research by contacting the NY section to compare local sections of the AES. He plans on contacting the Nashville section which might be more similar in size to Boston's section. Moving things right along to the event at New Alliance Audio, Somerville, MA. Otto will will reach out to Ethan within the next few days to get rsvp # cap and talk through signage and refreshments/time etc, photos. We decide the next newsletter should be sent no later than Monday 11.13. Also potentially Ethan will have his own suggestions for local business for sponsorship.
We move on to planning for 2024. Dan has created a spreadsheet for ideas for events in the following year, which we look at now as a group. A tentative goal would be two events a month for 2024. "24 for '24." We look at some of the proposed events and discuss logistics for reaching out to appropriate hosts/connections. In general our goal for next year's events will be half social half educational or workshop/panel style. The Museum of Science has been contacted for an AES tour of the technical spaces and AV installs. Dimension Sound Studios tour with Dan Cardinal is also on the books but the date TBD.
Committee contributes other suggestions such as the Telefunken factory in Connecticut.
John Mailloux brings up having a point contact for a live sound demo of sorts.
Dan Fox will have an outdoor event at the grand opening of the studio he is building (Wondersmith Audio in Acton, MA). Dereck asks if we should have some kind of holiday party which the group transitions to discuss. The plan for the next few weeks is to really hone in on contacts for upcoming events in the spreadsheet.
We move on to the next agenda note which is how to implement an events calendar. Dereck brings up how we really need a website to have everything in one place. Dreamhost is a nonprofit that will grant organizations a domain via wordpress. We discuss needing to keep design conventions the same across the AES. Committee decides to go with this, Dereck already has the plan in motion.
