Meeting Topic: Student Mix Off Competition

Other business or activities at the meeting: The San Diego Section of the AES concluded its first annual student mix-off competition!. Students from five different schools submitted mixes that were reviewed by a panel of local renowned audio engineers. The Mix Off culminated in an in person event, hosted by Studio West, where we listened to the winning mixes and students received feedback from the panel of judges.

Summary

Event started at 3PM PST.
Bobby Bray (SD AES committee lead) introduced the event and introduced our host, Studio West and The Recording Arts Academy
The judges introduced themselves and then we went around and had everyone introduce themselves.
Steve Barsotti (SD AES Chair) welcomed everyone to the mix off event, discusses role of AES in San Diego community, announced upcoming events and meetings, and then read the judging criteria
Rest of event was listening to the three winning mixes and then having judge panel lead conversation about the work.
Event concluded at 5PM.
