Summary

Webster AES started the semester with the first pizza meeting, our biggest yet, with over sixty people. The following week, we talked about album aesthetics. Students and officers would pick a song of their choice and describe what they liked about the song. There was also an appearance from Bill Schulenberg, Vice President of the Audio Engineering Society US/Canada Central Region. With years of engineering experience under his belt, Schulenberg gave an industry perspective on what makes sound design or mixing of a song aesthetically pleasing.

Our next meeting was about Foley. We used Studio B to record sound effects for a rock climbing scene and compiled them into a final piece to watch and listen to. We did not have a general meeting on the week of September 19th; however, students were able to go to the Livella Brand Group Roadshow. This roadshow showed other career paths in audio outside of Sound Recording, such as Live Sound and Audio Technology. For example, Officers listened in on a panel about AV/IT and got to ask questions on the technical components and how to network. For our last meeting of the month, Brian Scheffer, owner of Firebrand Recording, spoke to students on the basics of mixing. Lastly, We ended the month off with our first show in our concert series, which featured bands: Buy Her Candy, Inner City Witches, and Native State!
