Summary

On Friday 1 we finally gathered to measure our DIGRA panel. This is an absorbent-gradient diffuser, designed and constructed by our section members and already presented in several AES instances locally (webinars, conventions and meetings). The diffuser pretends to work by 1/3 octave resolution from 250 Hz to 2 kHz, using a specific combination of different mineral wool circles placed on a strong wood base.

Having the privilege to receive Indio Gauvron and María Andrea Farina —both friends, mentors and of course, experts -- things became interesting, challenging and finally very useful. Using notions and recommendations from the AES4ID standard -and our own heuristics- we obtained several and different degree samples from the panel, rejecting or identifying other single reflections on the direct field, using a strong SPL pulse from a standard studio monitor and a laser level to place a single microphone on specific azimuth positions (-80/+80 degrees).

The next month we will be showing the preliminary results to each other: each one involved has the task to analyze the samples, using a typical Gauvron spreadsheet and of course, other methods. Afterwards, we will tell everybody about the results!
