Summary

Bea introduces the meeting by explaining that AES is an international organization that unites artists, scientists, professionals, and even students by promoting audio news, and resources. Also explains that there is the AES standards committee which sets the standards for the gear we use in the studios every day. Bea then explains that AES is a paid membership that CRAS students get a huge discount, also that members get access to career resources and invitations to events. Going also to mention that attending the CRAS Monday Night AES meetings is free, but to join AES or be on the student board you must be a paid member.

Moving onto the next slide, Bea announces the upcoming grad panel, featuring Erika
Koski, Chance Hubbard, and Matt Trenhail, while also explaining their large credits such as Lil Yachty, Internet Money, and games such as Horizon Forbidden West.
Moving onto the next slide, Bea goes through the introductions asks people to share
their Name and cycle, and asks the question "What fictional character would you enjoy working with?" The room introduces themselves accordingly and the question is answered with various responses from "Gwen Stacy from Spider-Man on Drums." to the rabbits from the "Rabbids" to "Howl from Howl's Moving Castle".

Bea moves to the next slide, introducing the CRAS AES sample flip challenge, where Sol creates a sample every cycle that is sent out to everyone who comes to the meetings. Everyone is encouraged to participate and be as creative as they want from creating a beat to making sound design elements. As well as that everyone sends in their creations to Sol in week 3 so they can all share their creations on the big PA in live sound.

Moving to the next slide about the CRAS mentor program. Bea and Ollie both explain
how there are cycle-specific study groups available for sign-up on Cras Connect, as well as 1 on 1 tutoring available if they contact the student help email. Bringing up the point of how the mentors are an amazing resource available to students and that mentors have access to lots of different resources to help students.

Bea then moves the the CRAS AES subgroup slide, where the leaders of the subgroups
who are in attendance explain what they do. Sol explains his EDM subgroup, how it is a open
and safe space for EDM enthusiasts, producers, and just anyone in general interested in learning about EDM production to share, learn, mix and create ideas. Mikey then explains his Jammin subgroup and how they book out a studio for a jam session weekly. CJ then explains Star's sound design subgroup and how Star explains how to sound design drums, and synths, to remove people's reliance on Splice. Bea then explains her Guitar and Bass subgroup and how people come to learn how to play, as well as repair techniques.

Moving then onto the week's production tip from Sol. He covers transient shaper plug-ins
and how to use them practically to add punch and dynamics to drums, basses, synths, and more. Going over the KiloHearts version in particular and how to use the Attack, Pump, and Sustain parameters to adjust the transients of their sounds, demonstrating how they work on a Kick drum sample. Sol also mentions that there are free alternatives to these plug-ins going over the Flux Audio BitterSweet v3 plugin and how they have used it in their own productions.

Bea ends the meeting by asking people to come up and talk, and network with the board
and people around them.
