Summary

On Friday, September 8th, we held the first AES-UNLA Audio Symposium at the National University of Lanús, located in the southern province of Buenos Aires. This event became a milestone, with an audience of over 120 students who attended and filled the facilities of the "Tita Merello" University Cinema, situated at 3799 29 de Septiembre Street in the town of Remedios de Escalada.
Words fall short to describe the excellent organization of the symposium, led by Christian Paladino, a graduate of the University and the current Vice President of the Professional Section of AES Argentina.
At exactly 2:00 PM, the cinema doors opened for Juan Cáceres, Director of the Audiovisual Degree Program, along with Christian Paladino, to welcome the audience and introduce university professors and researchers Georgina Lisazo and Jorge Petrosino, who began the symposium with their presentation titled "Manipulating Waves: The Fusion of Acoustics, 3D Printing, and Research."
The next segment was conducted by researcher and professor Indio Gauvron, who delved into topics related to "Calibrating Monitoring Systems in Studios" for a full 60 minutes—a subject in high demand today due to its complexity and precision.
After a coffee break, the third session was led by sound engineer Francisco Bissone, who, before his participation in the upcoming AES Latin America Conference AES LAC QUITO 2023, contributed to the AES-UNLA Symposium with his talk on "The Evolution of Immersive Audio: From Mono to Dolby Atmos."
The event concluded with technicians Patricio Bertato and Pablo Siboldi from TMPRO, who offered a 90-minute Shure-certified "RF Audio" training session, fostering a space for discussion and demonstrations that enriched the gathering.
Before the Shure Certification, Gustavo González, President of AES Argentina, and Christian Paladino, Vice President, engaged in discussions with the attending students, encouraging and promoting the creation of the future AES-UNLA Student Section, emphasizing the importance of establishing, maintaining, and ensuring that memberships remain up to date.
Additionally, the audience was invited to participate in the upcoming CAPER 2023 edition in November, an exhibition by the Argentine Chamber of Providers and Manufacturers of Professional Audiovisual Equipment, where AES ARGENTINA will present an Immersive Audio Room for a series of specific talks and activities.
Finally, we want to express our gratitude for the special collaboration provided by students David Joya from the AES-AURAL Student Section and Sergio Zanabria from the AES-TAMABA Student Section, who played a crucial role in accreditation and administrative tasks during the event day.
