On Wednesday, August 23rd, AES Argentina held a webinar focused on "Technical Audio Production in Large Events." The event, conducted through the Zoom platform, featured the prominent participation of Pablo Munguía, a renowned Sound Engineer with extensive experience in large-scale events such as the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Super Bowl halftime show.
The activity commenced with introductions by the chair, Gustavo González, and the vice-chair, Christian Paladino, who welcomed the attendees and set a conducive learning environment. Subsequently, the floor was given to the talk's moderator, former president Ivan Markovic.
Over the course of 130 minutes, Pablo Munguía delivered a masterclass in which he intricately detailed the process of his work in massive events. Munguía shared his expertise in the selection and setup of sound systems for musical shows, as seen in the Oscars, Grammys, and Super Bowl. Through concrete examples, the speaker elucidated the utilized riders and the decisive factors in choosing microphones for each occasion.
The engineer delved into technical aspects, from specific adjustments for each instrument to labeling and tools employed in the process. Furthermore, he focused on broadcasting systems, Front of House and monitoring systems, providing a comprehensive view of the challenges involved in audio production for large events.
Munguía also underscored the responsibilities assigned to different sound engineers within the team, offering a panoramic insight into the essential collaboration in this environment. The culmination of the talk arrived with a collective listening of three works in which Munguía had directly participated, enabling attendees to comprehend the practical application of the discussed concepts.

His accolades encompass twenty-five nominations and seven Emmy awards for his mixes at the Oscars, Grammys, and Super Bowl. Additionally, he has garnered recognitions at the Latin Grammys, CAS Award, and NAMM TECH Award. Currently, Munguía holds the position of Director of the Master's in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation at Berklee Valencia.
