Summary

David Kohr begins the meeting with a short introductory statement. He introduces the CRAS AES chapter as well as expressing gratitude for the new members and attendees as well as stressing the importance of networking with other attendees. He proceeds to call up and give extra thanks to Kyra Phillips, the previous president of the CRAS AES chapter, and present her with a letter of recommendation on behalf of AES. David then introduces new members of the AES board, including Oliver Abbot as Vice Secretary, Christopher "CJ" Lanaghen as Secretary, Zo Creer as President, Bea Hoban as Vice President, and Malcolm Ntiappiah as Vice President.
After his introductions, David passes of the mic to Zo to open up the meeting. Zo opens by providing contact information for all officeholders in order for attendees to contact officeholders if they have any questions or concerns. Then the presentation proceeds to review and revisit upcoming AES hosted events, like the Telefunken Studio Tour. After outlining the Mentorship program available at CRAS, including providing attending examples of current mentors, Zo proceeds to introduce the available subgroups for AES members and CRAS students.
Introductions proceed with the following questions: Name, Current Cycle, and what attendees would like to get out of AES meetings. Answers range from wanting to gain more experience networking and song digests, to soda in the drinking fountains and an open coffee bar. After introductions, Zo dives into an explanation of AES, from its foundational duties to the perks and benefits of becoming a paid member.
Pass The Aux, the next subject on the slideshow, is a playlist curated by Kyra and fueled by the musical suggestions of other members of AES. After running over the basics of the playlist and how to get in touch with Kyra, Zo plays a YouTube video breaking down the sound design behind the Alien film, in particular the foley design behind the first chestburster scene.
For the plugin of the week section, Zo showcases Slate Digital's $10/month subscription package. In a departure from form, this plugin is not free, however Zo claims the price is justified by the sheer processing power and capabilities of the plugins contained in the package. For the first demonstration, Zo goes in depth on the "MURDA" plugin, explaining its various delay, clarity, and reverse functions. He then proceeds to show off the virtual mix rack with an EQ that emulates gear available on campus, all in the box. After a demonstration of the plugins, the meeting concludes with an invitation for all members to network with one another and form connections.
