On Friday, August 8, 2022, within the framework of seminars and interviews of the Conteo AES LAC 2022, one of the groups of our department of acoustics and auditory perception presented the progress of the DIGRA project, a gradient absorption diffuser prototype. It consisted of reviewing the criteria to generate diffusion and thus propose the design and operating logic of the prototype, revealing how it was built and the materials that were used. In the last stage of the presentation, the acoustic measurements that were carried out in a control room with an LEDE format and the data produced by the software analysis were revealed, showing the positive changes that occur with the prototype located in the back wall of the control room, taking the listening sweet spot as a reference.
There is still a lot of work to be done since one of the main goals is to arrive at a consistent mathematical model for DIGRA and to test new prototypes and make more acoustic measurements.
