Summary

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, the teacher of the TAMABA Tertiary Institute, Santiago Capisto, was invited by the Student Section to talk about predictive compression and its use in music production. Over the course of two hours, Santiago Capisto made a historical tour of the audio compression units, providing in each case the technical characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, and made a detailed description of the gain reduction mechanisms in each case.

He also presented, through different block diagrams, the different configurations of the audio equipment that we find in a recording studio to be able to perform predictive compression until reaching the most modern techniques used "in the box".

After the space for questions, he performed live tests on a studio recording in multitrack format.
