Meeting Topic: August/September Monthly report
Speaker Name: Trezette Dixon, Daniel Ruder- Webster University
Meeting Location: Online (Zoom)
While the 2019-2020 school year has had a nontraditional start, the Webster AES chapter continues to adapt in order to keep everyone safe. We took off right away with weekly Zoom meetings, discussing topics such as how AES benefits our students, how to start up an at-home studio on a student budget, and how to use
our campus resources to start developing a career.
We have also started planning a new approach to our Concert Series, showcasing local talent
on Webster's campus. Though our typical show in September didn't happen this year, we will be
streaming live from our very own Studio A in November with student musicians and a limited
crew. We hope to deliver the same magic live shows have always brought on the Webster
Campus, but now to an even wider audience.
Many classes have gone virtual this semester, but those that are in person have small class sizes and are
taking full advantage of the resources still available to us in this pandemic, while still being able to maintain social distancing and other safety guidelines. After nothing short of an unusual end to last semester, students are back to the classroom (physical or virtual) learning the fundamentals of the industry and how to adapt them to our ever-changing world.
