Summary

The 2016 AES Latin American Conference was held from the 21st thru the 23rd of July in the University of San Buenaventura. Conferences, workshops, discussion panels, demos, student recording and design competitions, recording critiques, technical tours, papers and posters were presented around four main topics during the three days. Acoustics, Electroacoustics and Psychoacoustics, Sound Install and Live Sound, Production (Recording, Mixing and Mastering) and Post-production (Film, TV, Broadcast and Videogames).

During the conference, renowned international speakers were presented such as Vance Powell (USA) —Engineer for Arctic Monkeys and Jack White--, Mathew Waters (USA) —Sound Designer of Game of Thrones and Black Sails--, Ryan Hewitt (USA) —Engineer for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink 182--, Eduardo Vaisman (ARG) —?eam Lead Audio for Splinter Cell Blacklist and Far Cry4--, Bruce Olson (USA), Robert Généreux (CAN), Alex Lameira (BRA), Daniel Reis (BRA), Mauricio "Magú" Ramírez (MEX), Alejandro Bidondo (ARG), Valeria Palomino (MEX), and Rodrigo Casassus (CHI) and over 25 local professionals like Ana Jaramillo, Mauricio Ardila, Ricardo Escallón, César Vilar, Tony Peñarredonda, Marcela Zorro, Carlos Silva, Andrés Núñez, Camilo Silva, Andrés Landínez, and Andrés Millán, among others.

Also, Sennheiser presented, for the first time in Latin America, their innovative immersive audio system AMBEO 3D. A 9.1 system with Neumann speakers was installed to show the results of the AMBEO 3D applications and recording techniques. Simultaneously, Technik S.A. offered hearing tests with an audiometric chamber to the assistants of the conference. Additionally, a commercial exhibit was presented with over 25 companies that demonstrated their products and services to the assistants. The event was sponsored by Electro Voice, Sennheiser, Olson Sound Design, Meyer Sound, InfoComm International, AVID and AFMG (Ahnert Feistel Media Group) and supported by Instituto Ene Audio, DiGiCo and Diffusion Magazine.
