The Audio Engineering Society Section Colombia developed the AES National Student Recording Competition during the month of september. Within the qualifying phase and the recording competition over 50 students, from different institutions, presented their recordings. The educational institutions that participated were the Javeriana University, San Buenaventura University, Andes University, and Instituto Ene Audio. For this occasion, the prizes that were collected are priced for over US$9,000. The sponsors for this competition were Metric Halo, Instituto Ene Audio, Boutique Pro Audio, AVID, C1 Mastering, AVCOM, Solid State Logic, Soundlogics, Camilo Silva F Mastering, Yamaki, Presonus, Sennheiser, Genelec y VCR Ltda.
Four Categories were presented: Traditional Acoustic Recording, Traditional Studio Recording, Modern Studio Recording, and Sound for Visual Media. The jury members were some of the most renowned engineers of our country and the special participation of Valeria Palomino from Mexico and current Vice President for Latin America. The members who qualified students at all instances of the contest were Valeria Palomino (México), Marcela Zorro, José Leonardo Pupo, Juan Carlos "El Chato" Ricas, Carlos Silva, Mauricio Cano, Andrés Landínez, Miguel de Narváez, Felipe Linares, Ricardo Escallón y Daniel "El Gato" Garcés.
