Summary

Every monday night CRAS AES gets together for our "Production Team" Meeting. This is where we talk about upcoming events and brainstorm for future events. Usually these meetings are pretty small and so we don't report them but as of late these meeting have been getting more and more of a turnout and last night CRAS Grad Dante Campana was a guest speaker at one of these meetings.

In tonights AES meeting we were welcomed by Dante Campana, Dante spent his internship at EA games as a QA tester and while at EA has been apart of titles like The Simpsons Tapped Out, Sims 4 and much more. Dante also talked about how learning game development software such as Unity or Unreal and then designing sounds/ implementing them with Wwise is a good way to start out and get a leg up on the competition. He also explained the differences when working at a big studio, compared to a small or indie studio, Dante also talked about the different rolls you would be faced with, working at a bigger studio yields allot more specific audio rolls like associate sound designer, dialogue specialist, audio editor etc.... while if you work in an indie studio there might just be the sound designer and audio implementor and between the two of them divide the word load. During the discussion Dante made sure to point out the phrase "Vertical Slice" the phrase is used when describing the bare minimum of work you show the public through a website like Kickstarter in hope of funding your project. Lastly Dante discussed researching cities you are interested in moving to with a handy website called "game dev map" when you choose the city you are interested in a list of all the possible developers, publishers and organizations in the area will appear.
