Antelope Audio's Spacht Adresses Mic Modeling

On AES New York 2018’s PSE Recording Stage on Wednesday, October 17 at 3pm, Antelope Audio will explore the potential that modeling microphone technology offers for achieving a broad palette of microphone sounds from a single mic, along with creative stereo/surround recording techniques. The session will use as examples the microphones from Antelope’s Edge family – the fixed cardioid pattern Solo, the multi-pattern Duo, and the dual-capsule Quadro modeling microphones – used in conjunction with both native and FPGA-powered processing.

The session will be led by Antelope Audio’s Donald Spacht II who will introduce the world of microphone modeling technology and explore whether the combination of microphone and DSP can allow one microphone to offer both classic and modern tonalities equivalent to a generously stocked mic locker.
